Information on the Blackmore family? 2009-10-15 08:50:09
I wonder if you can possibly help me with my ancestors. William Blackmore  is my G. Grandfatherborn circ 1827 the census I have looked at all tell me he was born in Creech St. Michael and that his Father was John Blackmore. I have his marriage certificate to Sarah Ann Bailey. They had eleven children all of whom were brough up in Creech St. Michael. Their children also were brough up in Creech as was Frecerick my Grandfather who married Elizabeth Giles and my Mother was one of their 12 children Isabel Blackmore.
I have spent 2 years looking for William's birth certificate and the only one I found on the internet was a William Blackmore born in Thornfalcon but this turned out to be wrong as he was lodging in Thornfaclocn when My William was already married and living in Creech St. Michael. Is it possible that you could help me find his birth certificate in Creech and also his Father John  Blackmore. I have found a John Blackmore married to Elizabeth but cannot connect him as yet as the Father of William. I would be exetremly gateful for any help you can give me. The census also tells me that William died in Creech in 1906. I think that  William and Sarah Ann must be buried in the churchyeard.
Thanking you in ancipation that we may be able to find his birth in Creech St. Michael.

Hello.
I have just read your letter and can confirm that we are related. but Emily is not my Mother's sister she was a cousin. Frederick and Elizabeth are my Grandparents and Isobel was my Mother she died in 1986. I do know Emily
was married and that they lived next door to William and Sarah. I have a mass of information on the Blackmores and now have come to the conclusion that the William Blackmore born in Thornfalcon must be our G. Grandfather and that there must have been two William Blackmores this one ended up in the Tower of London. John Blackmore was born in West Buckland his wife was Ann Marks and I have all the history if you would be interested. Ann & John were married in West Buckland and have traced her family quite a long way back. I checked on the John & Elizabeth in Creech at the records office but no William was born to them so the evidence is that he was born in Thornfalcon it is after all just down the road from Creech.

I muist admit it has baffled me for years but I have a cousin who will also be related to you and we have both searched and serched and had to come to the conclusion that we have the right William. I have also traced his wife's family if you are interested as they did not come from Creech but from the north but i can give you all this information later. If Emily and Isobel are cousins which they are then your parent would be my Mother's first cousin once removed therefore you would be a second cousin of my Mothers I will have towork out the relationship between us. Look forward to hearing from you

Dear Anthea,
This particular William Blackmore is my great great grandfather! SO, I think we might be distantly related! William and Sarah lived in Laburnum Terrace in Creech St. Michael. Emily Blackmore (their daughter) is my great grandmother, and I believe she was Isabel's sister - certainly William and Sarah were Emily's parents. They are recorded in the 1901 census as living next door to William and Sarah. I haven't found his birth certificate, but I can confirm that William and Sarah are buried in the Churchyard. Would be interesting to see just how related we are!
Best Regards,
Graeme Lloyd

When will the proposed development of 1000 houses take place between Creech St Michael and Monkton Heathfield?  And where can more information be found?

The Parish of Creech St Michael Book? 2009-10-08 08:56:23
I am trying to find a copy of " The Parish of Creech St Michael" compiled by Mr James E Cole of Dillons Road.  It was priced at £6.95 so I guess it was a soft back type book or pamphlet.
There are some very interesting photos enclosed of the days when my brother and I went to school there.

Information on the Bellringer family? 2009-10-01 09:25:13
I am researching my family history and have arrived at the Bellringer family who are showing on the 1861/1871 census as residing in Creech St Michael. Does anyone have any suggestions of any reading matter and or photos/paintings around that time. Thomas Bellringer was a farm labourer. Also what church would they be likely to attend in the area? Many thanks

I am in the process of tracing the pocock family from creech st Michael. Can you help
Reply Jenny Pocock 2009-11-19 21:31:33
I live 5 mins from Creech St Michael and I remember when I lived in Langport (approx 15 mins drive from Creech) my in-laws (now deceased) who were local business people knew everyone and were friendly with a Mr Bellringer living there. I looked in the local Taunton directory and found loads of Bellringers listed - there is a M Bellringer at East Lyng (2 mins from Creech) Tel: 01823 698 029. Although a long shot, it might be worthwhile you 'phoning them. Sorry I can't help you with photos or anything else.

Best of Luck with your search.
