Local Football Team? 2009-09-21 12:53:24
I have recently moved to the area and am keen to join a local football team. Is there one in Creech and if so do you know who I should contact? Any details, info you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Marc, Taunton

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your email. There are two sides in Creech ... it took a while to find out their number.
The person to speak to is Sue or Ryan Jeffry on 01823 443104 (evenings)

Regards
Nigel

Information on the Mayled family of Creech St Michael 2009-09-14 13:45:55
I am searching for information on the Mayled family of Creech St Michael and was wondering of any one had information on the origins of this family. William Mayled was born in 1804 his father was also William Mayled a labourer baptised at the church in 1771 I believe his father was Moses Mayled who was buried at Creech St Michael in 1801 aged 80. Any information on this family would be so very useful.
Thank you very much
Jason, Aberystwyth

My great grandmother was Henrietta Mayled b 1854 who was the daughter of James and Charlotte Mayled of Creech St Michael. I have quite a bit of information about the Mayled family from Somerset and am willing to share.

Regards, Helen

Is the book by June Connell Loxton still in print, I have googled to no avail and would be interested in it for my family tree search..

Frank Henry Abraham Mayled was my grandfather. He came to Canada and settled in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He served two year in WWI then returned to Canada to become head gardener at the Alberta Mental Hospital Ponoka Alberta. He and Elsie Smith divorced and he married Pheobe Allman. They had three sons Victor A. Mayled of Ponoka, Kenneth (died young) and Ronald Mayled of Claresholm.
Henry Arthur had 4 children, Sidney had no issue, Victor Mayled had one child(me), Ronald Mayled has 3 children.

It is my understanding that there was family in Wales as well as Australia. If you are looking for any information I recommend getting the publication Mayled Family by June Connell Loxton published 1995. This history of the family starts out with David and Tobias in the 1540's. I would be interest to hear from any Mayled.

My father is George Mayled. He was born in Dinas Powis in South Wales. I'm not sure if he is related?

Samuel was buried in Creech in 1811 aged 44 so his year of birth is calculated as 1767. The Creech baptism register is missing for the 1760s so we can only guess who Samuel's father was (assuming he was born in Creech). We do know that Samuel had a son called Abraham, who was born on 29th Jan 1808 and baptised in Creech on 14th Feb 1808. Abraham's son Francis/Frank was baptised in North Petherton, Somerset, on 7th Mar 1841. He died in 1916. His son Frank Henry Abraham had two sons Henry Arthur and Sidney Frank, who were baptised in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, on 14th Nov 1909 and 25th Aug 1912 respectively. I'd be interested to know what happened to them in Canada.

I am also searching the Mayled family . I believe that the line I want is Samuel and Alice Smith but no confirmation. I am sure about Abraham and Anna ( Rennick ) being correct in my line but have only been told that father of Abraham was Samuel b 1767. I wondered if Samuel and Moses were brothers.
Abraham and Anna had a son Francis b 1841 who married Annie Simms in 1862 . Their son Frank Henry Abraham Mayled b 1880 d 1943 married Elsie Smith in 1906 . They came to Canada in 1913
I am trying to sort the different families
Thanks for any help
Gayle

There is a lot of information on the Mayled Family, held at Taunton Records Office. William Mayled (born 1804) was my G,G Grandfather and one of his sons Charles Mayled(1848-1926) migrated to Cardiff to form one of the Welsh Branches of the family line.
Incidentally in Taunton Records Office is a copy of a Mortgage dated 1849 which names William Mayled as a new Mortgagee for property near Bridgwater.

Any further info please get in touch

Kevin,
Cardiff
