Are the graves of John and Hester Every in Creech St Michael? |

I have traced my g-g-g-grandfather, John Every, to your village where I believe he died. I was wondering if the graves of John and Hester Every (died around 1865) are in your graveyard? James Avery, Kent |

Thanks for looking, Nigel. I was thinking of coming to the village but if there's no sign of them then maybe not. If you have any luck with the records, then let me know. James

James, I checked out all the headstones in the churchyard but I can't see any Everys. A few headstones from that time 150 years ago are impossible to read so it's still possible. I think there is a record kept of every burial in the churchyard and will see if I can find where it's kept. Anyone else know? Nigel Finch

Is Creech St. Michael above or below sea level? |
|
2010-08-31 08:52:01 |
Formerly living at Creech St. Michael, a discussion has arisen in the family whether Creech St. Michael was above or below sea level as some of the Somerset Levels area is. The question is whether that is true. i.e is Creech below sea level as some of the Somerset Levels or not? Best regards, Wendy Richards, Iceland |

Wendy, All of Creech St Michael is indeed above sea level. The main road through Creech (St Michael's Road) is about 14m above sea level at the North End roundabout. One of the lowest areas is the River Tone at Ham which is about 7m above sea level.

Is there a gravestone for John Marks in the churchyard? |
|
2010-08-16 15:14:02 |
My great grandfather John Marks died in Creech on May 9 1899 aged 59 years. I believe he was probably buried in the churchyard there. I was wondering whether there is a gravestone for him and also if anyone knew of any information regarding the Mark’s family? Mrs J Pocock, North Newton |

Contact Glenn Parker and his family |

I am trying to contact Glenn Parker and his family. To my knowledge he may still live in Creech St Michael. At one time his family owned the Creech Castle Hotel and before that a hotel in Newquay Cornwall. I will be in England next month and would like to catch up with him if possible. Thanks Terry, Perth Australia |
