Whereabouts of the executors of the late Gyneth Leighton (Bryant)? 2012-09-27 09:56:27
The Parish Council are seeking the current whereabouts of the executors of the late Gyneth Leighton (Bryant).  We understand this to be a Mrs Freeman, however, she no longer lives at the address we hold in Aylesbury Bucks.

The crime statistics for an area 1 mile radius from the centre of Creech are published every month in the News section with a link from the home page.

The stats are published by the police about 5 weeks after the end of each month and appear on this website shortly after. If you click on the different months in the News section you will find stats going back to April 2011.
The latest stats (July 2012) can be found by clicking this link:

Reply Eric Chown 2012-09-26 08:45:14
Hi,

This website publishes regular crime figures for this area. Open the "News" menu at the top of the Home page. This will take you to the latest area news and in the list are the Crime figures for the last few months, up to July will be found. Click the picture to enlarge the details and this will give a breakdown of the statistics. This is official information from the Somerset Police. Their website is also linked.

Hope this helps

Are reasonable broadband speeds available and if so which providers and their services are popular? 2012-09-21 08:44:29
We will be moving to Creech in the near future and are interested to know if broadband services are ok in the area.  Having looked around the site before I recall that in 2009 or 2010 mention was made that the exchange at Henlade required upgrading.  Has that happened yet?  Are reasonable broadband speeds available and if so which providers and their services are popular?  Would like to say your site is great to look around and gain information and insight into the area!

We live in Creech Heathfield (West Monckto exchange) and get 1.7 Mb/s download & 0.35 Mb/s upload, using Homecall, which I think is part of Talk talk.

This looks to be consistent with others, except Nigel, who we know has a bit of magic going for him. I think I'll pester our ISP again, they give you nothing if you don't ask.

Thank you for your replies. Looks like we will have to take our chance and hope for the best. Good broadband sure seems to be taking it's time reaching all areas doesn't it.

Valerie.

Valerie,

To add to the thread here. We are on the Henlade exchange. I get about 2.5Mb/s download and 0.23 upload on BT. A neighbour of mine gets about double my download speed but the same upload, we are both at the North end of the village. So quite a way from the exchange which is the deciding factor. It has been suggested in the press that our exchange (Henlade) may be upgraded next year as it also serves the business park at Blackbrook. We are not holding our breath!

Kind regards

Hi,

Not good I'm afraid. I live in Creech Heathfield and get 1.81 download and 0.32 upload. Pretty poor when you consider how close we are to the County Town!
Reply Valerie 2012-09-21 15:59:20
Thank you, seems ok, which is good.

Regards,

Valerie.

Hi Valerie,
I live on the west side of Creech on the West Monkton exchange (41xxxx) and use Orange. I just did a line test with http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk and got these speeds:
Download: 4.31 Mb/s
Upload: 0.37 Mb/s

Hopefully other people in Creech will try the same test and publish their findings.
Regards
Nigel

Old engine house cottage at Charlton image 2012-09-17 08:45:32
I have seen this picture on your website: www.creechstmichael.net/gallery/charlton
It shows the old engine house cottage at Charlton. Please can you tell me how I can get a copy of the original at a better resolution?
Many thanks Ian, Taunton

Many thanks for the reply. I feel a trip to records office coming on to see what they have.
Thanks again

Ian,
Somerset Web Services redesigned and rewrote the website in May 2007 based on a former website developed by the late Gwyneth Bryant. SWS inherited the photos from that website and all photos are the original resolutions, 449x302x256 in this case. It would have been a scan of a photo which may have been done at a low res.
SWS do not have the original which it was scanned from. It may be in a private collection. You could try the Somerset archives.
There are over 1,000 visitors per month to this website and a link to this AAQ from the home page. Hopefully somebody responds.
