You know its someone from the village? If so do the decent thing and report them to the police, not just moan on a web site. as Nigel says, report it to Taunton Deane. Things get done if you report them to the appropriate agency rather than making lazy comments on a web site.

I'm really enjoying the design and layout of your website.
It's a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more
pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme?

Excellent work!

Hi Marvin,
These people are so anti-social. Taunton Deane BC deal with this - call 01823 356356. If anyone sees people flytipping they are best to report them on the same no. passing on details like car number plate, date, time, don't confront them.

How many dwellings are there? 2013-09-09 08:24:18
I am doing research regarding Minor Rural Centres. Can you tell me how many dwellings there are within the village boundary of Creech St M. VMTs?

Dear Eric,
VMTs - very many thanks for your reply - sorry I am a retired naval officer and have lived off 3 letter acronyms for 40 years- I'm trying to kick the habit!
The purpose of my question is to try and ensure that IF the 250 target is to be met from what basis are they starting! Here up in the Blackdowns we were asleep when we were designated MRC but now are keen to ensure that common sense, a sense of proportion and our AONB status is fully recognised. We have just had 22 houses built (small numbers but proportiionally large) which brings us up to 189 dwellings. TDBC have yet to declare wether these 22 were included in the original MRC allocation - we think they should be especially as they have only just completed them and some are still for sale! Fortunately for the time being the problem seems to have gone away as planning permission for another 30 dwellings has just been refused. But I am sure that numbers and the spread will reappear again shortly - hence my fact finding mission. But it does seem that you guys have had your share of the allocation.
Many thanks for all your help
Sincerely, John Milnes

John,

I can only give you the figure as quoted from the Taunton Deane website from the LDF Steering Group of 20th Aug 2013. The table for the Minor Rural Centre Current settlement size which is about 900 dwellings for Creech St Michael. Dated 2012. You may already have this information to hand.

But this may not be what you are after as you use the acronym VMT. As this does not appear in any document I have looked at I am at a loss as to its meaning.

Incidentally the report states “ . . . Officers consider that Creech should contribute about 110 new homes towards the 250 target. Their target has therefore been met through the recent planning permissions. . . “

Let me know if this has been of help.

Regards

I think your question is answered by looking at the story of “Creech at War" in the ABOUT section of this website. It contains all the details you asked for , and more. The story was narrated to Nigel Finch by David Caddy in 2010. See this link; http://www.creechstmichael.net/about/creech-at-war/walford-house/
Perhaps you may remember him as I think we went to school together all those years ago.
I personally can't remember the GIs, black or white, incidentally the US army was segregated and I believe that black soldiers were not considered as fighting units until 1944 and the Battle of The Bulge.
I do recall seeing the Italian POWs working on the fields who drank black coffee from large metal bowls – this to someone about seven year old was an amazing sight.
I always wonder what prompts questions like these, do you have memories of Creech in earlier times you could share?
It is a constant theme of mine that any stories of our parish should be recorded.
History is not made by the dignitaries, politicians and the like but how the people themselves saw the world and the effects it had on they family life.

Kind regards
