Temporary Closure of the River Tone Bridge 28th March 2012-03-26 08:25:06

Article submitted by Eric Chown, Web Publicity

Temporary closure of the old river bridge across the River Tone.

On Wednesday 28th March 2012 the road will be closed for one night.

The timescale is from 16:30 to 06:30. This will affect commuter and local bus services late afternoon on Wednesday 28th.

The waterproof membrane appears to be ruptured so the surface will have to be redone.  It is hoped everything will be complete within the overnight time frame.  The work may include some remove of vegetation and re-profiling.

Crestmoor are the named contractor and can be contacted for more information on 01963 33923.

Anyone seeking further information can call during office hours.

Do you know any young people who have made an outstanding contribution in Creech over the past year?

Avon and Somerset Police are looking for nominations for the Children and Young People’s Awards 2012. Young people all too often get a bad press so this is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the positive things young people do!

There are two categories:

  2. a group of young people who have made a positive contribution to their community (in the group category, the majority of the group should be under 18).

Previous winners have been recognised in the past for:

  • acts of bravery or courage e.g. saving someone’s life, helping stop a crime
  • campaigning on local issues eg: skate park
  • taking part in charitable work or fund-raising projects
  • organising local events within the community
  • overcoming personal adversity to achieve e.g. ill-health, physical disability, social and economic deprivation

Prizes

  • A trophy for the winners in each category
  • A framed certificate
  • £100 vouchers for the individual winner and a £200 vouchers for the winning group
  • The chance to go on a ride along with police officers

Imogen Mansfield, 15, from North End Creech St Michael has received sponsorship from Somerset Web Services to help her achieve her career as a professional dancer.

She has passed all her exams with distinction and has won many competitions in recent years, including being placed in the South West England Senior Ballet Championships in Exeter in February 2012. This qualifies her to compete in the All England Dance Championships in London in 2013.

Imogen has to travel to Wales frequently where she is an associate dancer for the Ballet Cymru, an honour for such a young dancer. The sponsorship helps cover the travel costs.

Managing Director of Somerset Web Services, Nigel Finch said, “We are delighted to hear of a very talented dancer from Creech and wish her every success in her ambitions”.

Imogen added “I really enjoy dancing and representing Taunton in competitions around the South West. I would like to thank Nigel and his company for sponsoring me and would welcome sponsorship from other local businesses"

If you or your company would also be interested in sponsoring Imogen to help achieve her ambition she can be contacted via the Creech website here.
