May 2007 Taunton web design company redesigns Creech website 2007-05-20 16:07:22

The new website for Creech St Michael was officially unveiled at a special ceremony at Creech St Michael village hall on Saturday 26th May 2007.

The site was built by Somerset Web Services of Taunton who agreed to redesign and modernise the Creech St Michael website free of charge to the local community.

The new site, www.creechstmichael.net, was launched by Eileen Webb, chair of Creech Parish Council and Nigel Finch, Managing Director of Somerset Web Services.

Eileen Webb announced “Discussions between the Parish Council and Somerset Web Services have been taking place since Christmas. We are delighted they have offered to perform this work and host the site entirely free for the benefit of the local community. A modern, vibrant look and feel to the website will put Creech in the Premier League of village websites!  On behalf of the Parish Council I would like to thank Somerset Web Services for their kind support and sponsorship”.

Managing Director Nigel Finch added “We are also delighted to provide this service for the benefit of the village where I have lived since 1987. Please support the site by submitting photos and articles to ensure the site remains appealing and newsworthy”

“There are many Parish Councils across Somerset and now the new website is officially unveiled they will appreciate there is a lot more they could be doing to promote their local communities. We hope our use of web 2.0 technology will inspire them for the benefit of their residents, businesses and visitors.”

Somerset Web Services undertook the Creech website project in a response to a plea by the Parish Council in November 2006 for one or more volunteers to enhance and maintain the local website. They were keen to take on the project because it gave them an opportunity to demonstrate the scope of what can be achieved by their designers and developers.

Among the features is an interactive Google map which, apart from providing a birds-eye view of any place on the world, pin points local businesses who subscribe to their innovative Gold Pin service. Another exciting feature is the use of leading-edge lightbox technology in the gallery which displays photos with a dramatic effect.
