Announcement on behalf of Creech St Michael Parish Council from Jill Loader, Parish Clerk

It is with deep regret that the Parish Council announces that Parish Councillor Paul Kingman-Reed passed away on Sunday 7th August 2011.

In an interview for the parish website, published on his co-option to the Parish Council earlier this year Paul had expressed a desire to become more involved in local affairs.

He leaves a grown up family - our thoughts are with them.

Aug 2011 Canal Treasure Hunt on 30th July 2011 2011-08-08 21:17:26

Article written by Mary Nevin, Creech St Michael

Somerset Waterways Development Trust organised a Canal Treasure Hunt on Saturday 30th July 2011.

There were questions to be asked in Creech St Michael!

A good natured bunch of people set out into the unknown in varying degrees of preparedness; from flip flops to walking boots.

We hiked across fields, went single file through rough grass, shouldered children's scooters over styles and got aching muscles from carrying the weary.

A general spirit of camaraderie abounded as we chatted, laughed and helped each other out (though it didn't stop one or two of us from making some unscheduled detours!).

Friendly faces, cool drinks and freshly cooked food greeted us at our destination of the Bell Inn. We rested weary feet and the scrutineers set to work.

The Canal Treasure Hunt was a fun way to spend an afternoon in the lovely countryside on our doorstep.

I found out lots of new things and I met many new people who I look forward to seeing again as I walk around the village.

A big THANK YOU to all those who put together this well organised and very reasonably priced event. Roll on the next one.

Mary Nevin
