Creech St Michael Medical Centre Newsletter 2012-01-23 13:52:05

Article submitted by Tony Murray, Chairman of the Patient Participation Group

Recently a new Patient Participation Group was set up by Dr Barthakur and Dr Balder. The aim of the group is to provide a means for patients to make positive suggestions about patients' needs, concerns and interests. It is to help the Medical Centre run efficiently. Its first task was to devise and organise a questionnaire about the appointment system. This has been completed, and it was found that:-

Many patients report that they are supportive of the Medical Centre, the doctors and staff and pleased with the general way that it operates.

There are some issues that patients would welcome thought being given to-

1. The ‘phone system cannot cope with the demand at present. We hope to have more telephone lines in the new Medical Centre.

2. In the near future patients will be given more information about the appointment system and triage.

3. The Doctors and The Medical Centre Manager are considering the appointment system and ways in which it can be improved.

Thank you-

We want to thank patients who participated because the information received will be really helpful in refining the appointment system in The Centre and in The New Centre.

Do talk to the members of the group listed below, or write/e-mail about any aspect you wish including ideas you may have seen in other Medical Centres and Surgeries. It is really important for patients to have good communication with the Doctors and the Medical Centre Staff, and your opinions will be valued.

From time to time The Medical Centre will send out newsletters and we would be interested to know what you want to hear about. Perhaps there are subjects you want more information about and would like a talk or demonstration about important medical issues.

The building of New Medical Centre near Rocketts Cottage is proceeding but running about three weeks late. It will provide a larger two-storey surgery and include 42 parking spaces. At present it looks as though next August will be a completion date.

The Patient Participation Group members-Dave Durdan, Kelly Durdan, Lawrence Gregg, Rachel Hay, Lubna Kirby, Tony Murray Chairman, and Elizabeth Tacchi Medical Centre Manager.
