COMMITTEES

The Parish Council is operated through a committee structure, with the main committee overseeing the councils statutory obligations.  The main committee may appoint other committees and sub committees and delegate some of their statutory duties to these groups.  Parish Council meetings are led by the Council’s (or committee) Chair and advised by a Clerk who is there to see that business is conducted within the law and best practice.

PANELS

Panels perform an important role is supporting the work of the Parish Council.  A panel acts in an advisory capacity and can draw its membership from councillors and the local community.  Panels are often created to oversee a specific aspect of the Parish Council’s work.

WORKING GROUPS

The membership of a working group can be drawn from councillors and other volunteers from the community.  Typically, a working group is created to focus on a specific issue or task and may be short term arrangement.  The role of a working group is to advise the PArish Council as a working group does not have any delegated decision-making powers.

WANT TO PLAY YOUR PART?

All councillors and members of our panels and working parties are volunteers, giving their time freely to support the community.  The roles can be very rewarding and can have a real and tangible impact on the community. If you can spare a few hours each month, you could soon get involved in one of our planels or working groups.
